Petr Stacho•Shape Your Dreams In Glass

August 4 @ 09:00 August 15 @ 17:00

Course Overview: Glass Reliefs, 3D Sculptures, and Kiln Casting

During this course, you will learn how to create glass reliefs, open-face sculptures, and 3D forms. We will cover the entire process, from designing simple reliefs to building more complex three-dimensional sculptures. You will also gain practical knowledge in:

  • Calculating annealing programs for glass.
  • Making casting molds and selecting the best materials for mold making.
  • Determining mold content and properly filling molds with glass.
  • Understanding kiln processing techniques and the fundamentals of glass art and technology.

The course will start with drawings for simple reliefs, progressing to small 3D sculptures. Afterward, we will focus on building molds. You will also explore the relationship between natural and geometric forms, experimenting with clay models and their combination.

In the final phase of the course, we will create a collective sculpture, where each participant will contribute a small clay segment to the project. Additionally, we will cover base cold-working techniques to improve glass results, if applicable.

Lectures will include:

  • An introduction to Czech and selected global glass artists who use kiln-casting techniques.
  • A discussion on my personal approach to glassmaking and insights into the glassmaking school where I teach.

All skill levels are welcome!
