    This intensive hot glass sculpting workshop course is designed to help students realize their ideas by building on time-proven and innovative techniques. Experimental ways of drawing and creating texture with glass frits and powders, torch-work, the use of customized tools, learning about the hot garage, will help each student attempt to render items in glass realistically. Fundamental ways of sculpting blown and solid forms parts will be taught with a focus on the use of the hot garage to construct with parts. Teamwork in hot construction will be emphasized. A substantial amount of time will be spent on creative thought processes as students develop their own dialogue with glass using a newly introduced vocabulary of form and technique. Talks, demonstrations, and student time will all contribute to the class experience. Three years of some hot-glass experience would be helpful.  Plan on working hard and having fun!!!

    Have you ever wanted to learn about mold making and kiln casting? In this exciting class we will explore materials, make a one-part mold, cast glass, and finishing work. Some topics covered through demonstrations will be: how to work with lost wax, how to make a one-part mold, experimentation with objects, and how to finish a cast glass piece. Learn all of the parts of the process from beginning to end! At the end of the course, each student will take home a wonderful one of a kind artwork. Handouts will also be given on all of the techniques covered and how to build your own kiln casting shop.

In this course, you will learn the stages and intricacies of blowing hollow beads using a tube and the necessary toolset; round, flat, and tube-shaped. You will see how to decorate the beads with materials such as dots, lines, enamels, and silver. By the end of the course, each student will be able to create their own jewelry or an art object using the beads they have blown.

    This workshop has been prepared to introduce and allow participants to experience the glass-embedded ceramics method uniquely developed by Prof. Mustafa AÄŸatekin. In fact, both ceramics and glass are art fields with technical requirements and limitations that demand technical knowledge, equipment, and experience. These necessities not only determine the conditions under which the two materials can be used together through a thermal process, but also directly affect the boundaries and outcomes of their interaction. Throughout the workshop, the artist will conduct a program consisting of practical applications aimed at exploring the possibilities of using glass and ceramic materials together.
