Mustafa Ağatekin

Professor Mustafa Ağatekin, who began his art education in ceramics, started working with glass in 2002. He is the first and only person to have taught glass education at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Turkey, serving as the head of the Glass Department at Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts, a department established in 2004. He has held this position for 13 years and continues to work in the same department.

Prof. Mustafa Ağatekin has carried out research projects, workshops, and consultancy, curatorial, and organizational roles with various private and public institutions both nationally and internationally in the field of glass. He has contributed to pioneering works in the field of glass in Turkey, such as the establishment of the Odunpazarı Hot Glass Studio and the initiation of the Odunpazarı Hot Glass Festivals. He also organized group exhibitions titled Kaleidoscope in different cities to increase the recognition of young artists and the field of glass art, as well as publications he has written and directed about the field of glass.

With the works he has produced, Ağatekin has opened 16 solo exhibitions in Turkey and participated in numerous group exhibitions and art events nationally and internationally. He continues to work on both artistic and theoretical aspects of the glass field.
