Scott Benefield has been involved in the field of studio glass for over 25 years as a glassblower, writer and workshop leader. He studied at The College of William and Mary, Louisiana State University and holds a master’s degree in glass from Ohio State University. He spent a year in Sweden studying glass design with Ann Wolff in 1987. He has worked at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Pilchuck and Haystack. Benefield was one of the original founders of the New Orleans School of GlassWorks and worked there as general studio manager and instructor in glassblowing. His work is in the collections of the Museum of American Glass in Millville, New Jersey, North Lands Creative Glass in Lybster, Scotland, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, and the Sir Elton John Collection in London, England. Benefield has been awarded multiple commissions including an architectural glass installation for the Skainos Project, East Belfast Mission in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the Glass Art Society, 30th Anniversary Commemorative Murrini Commission. He served on the board of the Glass Art Society in 1995, and was president from 2000 to 2001. In 2011 he was given the Lifetime Membership Award by the Glass Art
